my honest answer to your question Cm-Happy:

for many years i lived in Florida on a lake which was linked to a bigger lake by a canal and from there another canal lead to the atlantic intracoastal. it took however quite some efforts to navigate my 36' boat through these canals. so i decided to drop all canal needs and keep my boat in a marina at the Atlantic (~260 dollars a month ). as i don't own a boat anymore i have no canal needs whatsoever
