How come you could not get cheaper clothes and you are a Thai woman? :o (you'd get the exact real prices of the goods instantly without doing any haggle and you would not get ripped off cause the shops won't treat you as one of the (rich) tourists .

Why do you think you'll get cheaper clothes if you were (group shopping)? :D

I had been in that area many times( I join my friends whenever they visit Bkk to shop from that area). There is also (Pratunam mall) on the other corner.

There is Indra hotel (market on the lower floors) in that area too. But the most cheap deals for excellent gifts' shopping will be in Baiyoke hotel (not the sky one).

I am thai but i donno how to bargain, and at Platinum Mall if u buy up to 3 piece u would get wholesale price for

example i brough a dress there it cost me 250 B ( retails price)but if i buy 3 pieces up they will sale me for 180 B

(wholesale price)each.

and really i never bargain and donno how to bargain. no body ever teach me that

PS. many times ppl ask me "Are you Thai?" hahahah

Agreed, just because someone is Thai doesn't meant they automatically get a cheaper price. My husband used to be terrible at bargaining and I always got the cheaper price (some instances, I still do :o ) but he has slowly developed this ability and can now bargain in some instances.

Is Platinum Mall that big one on the corner up from Zen? (same side as the Big C but up a block or so)

nope thats was Patunam, but Platinum is at the same side as Pantip next to each other. if u walk from Centralworld just walk down to the narrow shitty sidewalk cross the moad then turn left. they sale only clothes.

haha yes my bargaining skill never improved.never ask for bargain tho i know i should but i got some strange feeling to do that.u need to teach me SBK hehehehe

I went to the weekend market with my husband and his cousin shortly after we married. I saw a wonderful cloisonne tea set I wanted to get my grandparents. Cousin is bargaining hard in Thai (I didn't speak much Thai yet at this point) and finally, after about 10 minutes of this the guy turns to me and says "Are you really pregnant?" "Yes" I nodded solemnly. After we left I turned to my cousin-in-law and asked her why she'd told the guy I was pregnant. "He wouldn't come down on the price enough" was her answer. I learned from a master :o

:o

Funny thing about bargaining is that sometimes you have to find all sorts of excuses and reasons for them to lower the price. Sometimes it seems totally unrelated.. but works! :D

Platinum Mall is a really good place, but for me I find it too disorganised. On most occassions, I have a tendency to get lost and can't seem to figure out which isle/lane I've already worked on. Then of course, both sides of the mall look exactly the same, and I can't remember at all which side I have been down. I end up doing the entire right hand side of the mall from the escalators onwards until 6pm (Closing time) and then figure out that I had forgotten to work the left hand side of the mall too. By that time of course the mall is closing.

There's just not enough time for me to shop in Platinum, or most malls that sell clothing in particular. I find MBK/Siam Centre/Paragon/Discovery/Seacon/Central abit easier to work as there's only just a few levels selling clothing, I'm able to categorise and know where I want to go.

However, with Platinum, the entire complex is full of clothing, and I've either got to do the basement until the top level if I wish to find anything I want (i'm so picky).

I like that it's cheap most of all, and I do quite like the restaurant on the top level, although I'm not use to eating in foodcourts (I like the view)..

I've also heard that if you purchase 3 items or more, you'll be worthy of a discount at wholesale prices. However, less than that, don't bother bargaining. It's fine with me, I count myself quite lucky to be able to purchase any item at less than 20 bucks. Despite I'm not a tourist anymore, I'm essentially a foreigner with a Thai income. So I also need to be quite careful, financial speaking.

I will have to check this one out then, next trip to bangkok. I love shopping :D

... probably because i live on this island with no choice, no selection and nothing to buy :o

u must be rich then sbk! (and no wonder I'm poor... I need to go live on an island sometime!)

by the way, it's best to go to Platinum with a friend, because you probably won't want 3 of the same thing, even if they're slightly different in style or color

The (only) thing am good at is (shopping) :o . So whenever you are in town just drop me a line and I hope we can arrange a shopping tour but definitely I will take the lead (will consider working as a privet shopping guide in the future)! :D

BTW, little-muppet, what kind of dresses did you buy? I might join you in your next shopping crusade if you wish so to teach you how to haggel. :D

Sorry Girls,

Do you know of any place in Thailand where they sell PVC and/or Latex clothing?

Seen a program on Thai TV where they reverted to Planet Latex and they said all clothes where made in Thailand.

There was a shop near Prathunam that specialised in PVC but is now gone.

Bed Supperclub had recently dressed their waiters and service people dresssed in PVC and it looked nice, very different.

So if anyone of you know please tell, na.

Thanks and kind regards!

I just changed my hair style. I had it short previously and they are long now. The "tout" (gay) hairdresser did a great job. I now look a lot feminine. Previously I thought a straight end hair style was fine since I clip them up all day. Now I have it short at front and longer at back. When I have time I'll "dat pom" (make them a little curly at the end). Many speakers and actresses on TV have this style.

Being a true lady is tired sometimes :o that the new hair style having short part fall into my face when cooking. This makes me itchy :D so just clip the whole thing up by the frame using when washing face.
