January 17, 200818 yr My husband applied for a marriage visa and he got a stamp and written in his passport "marriage" and they said it allows him to work. He's got a work permit , been working in Thailand for a few years. And then we went to the labor department to get his WORK PERMIT extension, and the officer said it has to say " work " as well or they wouldn't extend it for him. I know for sure because i talked to the immigration officer and they confirmed it's not a problem. TOday i'm going to do this for my husband, finger cross it's the last day( work permit expires today)
January 17, 200818 yr Yes a work permit can be issued for a non immigrant O visa issued for marriage (although I suspect you are talking about a one year extension of stay rather than the visa itself) - they may be thinking it was issued for retirement and most do not issue work permits in that case currently. There may be a slight difference in paperwork required (don't believe company has to have as much funding and such) but otherwise should be about the same.
January 20, 200818 yr do i understand this right? if i get a nonimmigrant o visa/marrige, i automaticly have the right to work in thailand??
