hello iestyn

i'm no expert and i am trying to move to thailand to.

because i'm not old enough for a retirment visa i do it for now on tourist visa's.

your plan off buying condo's and rent them out was my first plan to, but everybody i talked about this topic, advice me NOT to do.

you will maybe have a chance to get a ''multi entry non imgr visa'' when you have property in thailand on your name.

but that is not for sure.

i will go back to thailand in april on a tourist visa and look for a condow to buy to.

iff i will get a ''multi entry non imgr visa'' after i own property i will let it know on this forum.

i wish you all the best in your move and when you have results plz let us know how you got it.

I have to say I'd agree with 'everybody' who advised you earlier. Don't put all your eggs in the buy to rent market in a foreign country, especially one like Thailand. Far too risky and no safety net for you whatsoever.

Unless you have special skills and/or experience that is not available in the Thai market place,

which I doubt at your age, you are unlikely to find a job in your field in Thailand.

You could teach English, but the pay is generally only a pittance.

Much better to put your skills to use in the UK and earn as much as you can

to support long holidays in Thailand.

Getting married helps on the visa side, but not on the work side,

and only adds to your expenses, unless you can find a wealthy girl to keep you. :o

You can consider the Elite Card

but as you will see it is an expensive option and does nothing to help you to obtain work.

I do not recommend that you sell your house in the UK.

Rent it out, and use the income to supplement your life in Thailand.

That way you maintain your capital base and still have a home to return to

if things do not work out.
