I have been searching high and low for a Mastif breeder in Thailand via the internet and have yet to find one.

I am looking for a Mastiff male puppy or Bull Mastiff male puppy ( Pure Bred Only )

Does anyone know of such a breeder in Thailand or anywhere near-by?

For the Bullmastiff I've found four names:

MR.Udomsak Lojaroenrat, has shown Th. Ch. Ratchaburi Bull El Dorado.

MS.Angsana Srisamphan, has shown Ratchaburi Bull Corner

MS.Ame-On Praiwan, has shown San-Ora's Wind Walker

MR.Somnuek Tondsaipetch, has shown Int.Asian.Th.Grand.Ch.Steelmazigor

Couldn't find contact details, but you can contact the Thai Kennel club. Tel.: 02990 3428-9, 02990 3618 or email: [email protected]

And I found: Munta Bullmastiff (breeder) in Bangkok

Not sure if these are the contact details of Munta kennel or of the Workingdog Club of Thailand.

552 Kasamesan Resident Soi Laprao 112 Ladprao Rd.,

Wangthonglang, Bangkok 10310 Thailand

Tel. +66 (0) 2 - 514 0407 (หรือ 081 658 2003) Fax +66 (0) 2 - 514 0509

As for the Mastiff MR.Nachshon Barry Daniel Jacob has shown some dogs. Again no contact details found, but you may try the Kennel Club of Thailand.

Hope this helps. Good luck in finding a nice (bull) Mastiff.

I have been breeding quality English Mastiffs for 12 years... My in laws are having us ship over 2 pups with our next litter... Probably in April... We've already got the import paperwork started and would only need to change the number listed if you are interested... We had a fantastic Xmas sale this past year... You can see samples of our pups and our adults http: //home.earthlink.net/~clonga/Photos.html ... But... I'm afraid that we won't be repeating those prices again any time soon.

But if you're interested... let me know...

Also... Thought I'd mention that we've bred for extreme heat tolerance as our dogs need to tolerate 110ºF (44ºC) heat on a regular basis. A lot of Mastiffs don't do well in high heat conditions.

Like the last bit ... I've had Mastiffs for a loooong time now, and once through puppyhood they jump at the chance of a lie down, any excuse! Mine were mostly raised in the (dry) heat of the south of France, and now I'm moving out here permanently I'm looking at how to get my 10 month old English Mastiff out here ... would be very interested in your experience with the import paperwork, shipping quotes, etc, LucMee ..

Is it possible to familiarize them with cats in the house? Obviously If so how young should the pup be? Or is it just not in their dna to share the home with cats?

For me it's mostly down to training as early as possible, plus the individual dog's temperament. I'm not sure that the breed makes much difference, but with respect to Mastiffs my experience is that they are just big softies.

I had two (female) Mastiffs at a time when one child was born and another was three years old, plus three cats around the property. The only 'danger' was that as Mastiffs are not exactly the brightest of dogs, as soon as they learn that most objects they collide with (accidentally or otherwise) give way, and from that point on they tend to fail to discriminate between inanimate and live objects standing in their path. So good training of giant breeds is vital, and establishing their place firmly at the bottom of the 'family' hierarchy.

As for the cats, both Mastiffs loved two and hated the third. This wasn't accidental - two kittens (ours) treated them as surrogate parents and both dogs would let them (literally) walk all over them, while the third cat, a visiting stray adult tom, was regularly chased away and the dogs soon 'learnt' this behaviour. The dogs and our own cats were friends for life. I have another (female) Mastiff now, 10 months old, same temperament.

I have never had a male Mastiff though, always felt it was a little easier to establish the hierarchy thing with a female! Plus they're smaller... all the same mine have all been around 85 kgs when fully grown!

Just my experience ...

One other thing, none of our Mastiffs ever showed so much as a hint of aggressive behaviour during their lifetimes, nor has our latest puppy - ok they were great guard dogs in that they would bark ferociously at unexpected visitors, but they never bared their teeth, never growled at the kids or our cats, would happily let us take food from their mouths, etc. Very important for prospective owners of Mastiffs to be able to establish who's boss early on though - I had two house- and dog-sitters (married couple) for three months back in France when I first came to Thailand, the wife was completely unable to manage our (then) four month old Mastiff, was terrified of her, and the pup quickly realised this and soon dominated (but showed no aggression as such beyond 'unmanageable' boisterous behaviour - really was a case of who was taking who for a walk!) The lady concerned had King Charles spaniels back in the States, about as big as she could handle probably. Mastiffs are not dogs for those of a timid disposition!

Thanks for that full reply with lots of encouraging info. I sort of knew that the key is to start with a very young puppy. I'm not looking to do that in the immediate future. Just wanted to ascertain if any of the breeds I had in mind need to be eliminated because of innate anti-feline traits. Glad to know that mastiffs needn't be.

Still waiting to hear back from LucMee.....no word yet?

Let me know when you can....

In the mean time, is anyone else able to suppy a male mastiff puppy ot an American Mastiff puppy.

Bull Mastiff's are a little smaller than I like but still a great breed...
