I have a 12 month O-A visa; used our correct Bangkok mailing address on arrival. Wife, a Thai national using her U.S. passport, received a 12 month visa 2 days after arrival and used the address on her Thai ID card; not the same as our Bangkok mailing address. We planned to go to the Immigration Bureau together to accomplish the first 90 day report, but now wonder if it would be wise to go separately since the "addresses of record" are different. Will be grateful for your responses.

Why go at all?

Not a smart-a$$ answer, but a serious inquiry.

Feedback from a high source in immigration tells me that no one there keeps track of these reports and the data is not connected to any other information about you...No one is going to punch up your name from a computer on your next departure from Thailand and hold you hostage for omissions in your 90-day reporting. Additionally, I am surrounded by dozens of immigrants/non-immigrants who laugh at me every time I ask them about this requirement, some of them having resided here for over 10 years.

All that being said, I would, in no way advocate not fulfilling your non-citizen duty! :o

Despite the previous comment, it is a legal requirement and noone knows what the future holds for those who decide to ignore the law. And 90 day reporting is no big deal anyway. And I believe that 90 day reports are now recorded as I got caught out when I missed one.

In reply to the original post, I think its quite in order to inform immigration of a change of address since your arrival (to match your wife's address).

1. You are not on a marriage extension so that should not be any question there about why the different address (which could be an issue for that type).

2. For long term suggest wife obtain Thai passport and re-enter using that to avoid need for yearly extensions/address reporting.

Despite the previous comment,.... I got caught out when I missed one.

I'm curious: Precisely, what does that bold phrase mean? Slapped on the wrist? A tongue lashing? A notice in the mail? Jail time? A fine? Unable to leave the country?

Surely one of the functions (if not the only one) of the 90 day report is to update your address to the current location, so change your address when you submit the paper work. No sweat no problem.

For Toptuan: The coment about getting caught out was that I missed one report - the next time I reported I was fined and my passport stamped.
