can anybody answer my second question?

and what about the driver's registration?

all drivers of public transportation means (buses, taxis, tuktuks etc.) have a number.

is such a number n ecessary if the tuktuk is used only as a sightseeing tuktuk?

Is it possible to own a tuk-tuk in Thailand as a private vehicle. Not for hire, but just for your own personal use?

This is what I would like to know?

I have spoken with some Thais who told me that owning a tuk tuk as a private vehicle is not possible because they have to be registered under special license for public vehicle use only.

There is a monopoly on tuk tuks like ordinary taxis by whoever controls these public vehicles and will not permit the private registration of them.

That’s what I’ve been told and I have never seen tuk tuks in Thailand being used as private transport or know anyone that owns one.

But, please correct me if I’m wrong?

Would be great private transport. Get a 12 seater and the whole village could travel to the market and back as well as using it to cart heavy stuff around.
