Had a quick look at some other posts using search, really looking for current advice.

Wanting to take kids and wife to New York for a few days holiday. How difficult is it to get a visa nowadays.

I have had several visas to US/Canada before. Kids have dual nationality. Wife has land/house and business in her name.

Are there any pointers you guys/gals can give. Funds in bank etc.

Any things to watch out for?

Anybody done this recently?

sorry for the vague post

It is so vague that you think New York is in the UK. :D

Someone change the title.

oops :o I'll get my coat - want the door left open or closed?

Should not be a problem since you and the kids will get one easy, just your wife would be the problem. If you live and work in Thailand, and your wife has the business, they should probably do it no problem.

It's only 10 miles from Boston!

Or perhaps you mean the one about 10 miles from Washington!

Accept no copies! :o

See also Visa Denials.

Thanks for that link.

Here's a rough outline of what I(wife) propse to give as evidence - any comments

invoices reciepts for business expenses

photos of house

photos of business premises

copy of wife's bank statment showing funds in and out

copy of house registration book, this is still in her fathers name but there are two houses on the land. Should she get her own book?

copy of my bank statements showing funds in funds out

hire purchase agreements

letters from suppliers and customers

letters/bills from schools showing kids in education here

anything else? or overkill for a tourist visa?

TIA

Yes been to UK and returned. I'll add that in to the apllication as well - any more, for any more?

I think it will be a slam dunk. With the documentation you have, with her traveling with you and the kids on your UK passports, and with her having traveled to the UK and returning, I don't think you will have a problem. If she wanted to go someplace and overstay, she would have done it in your home country, not the US.

Thanks all for your input

You should include your marriage certificate and your passport with visa extension and work permit if you have one. A letter from your employer saying you have long term employment in Thailand is very helpful as well. The point being to prove your ties to Thailand and your wife’s ties to you.

"marriage certificate and your passport with visa extension and work permit "

Would never have considered that; but now it has been mentioned, it's rather obvious. Thanks for that one. Will include it as well.

DSYS,

I have a baby with dual citizenship, and my wife is Vietnamese. The consulate actually told me this is a liability, as for tourist you must prove that she will return, and we are traveling with her. Actually easier to immigrate her. Go figure.

That said, I inundated them with documents showing why I would return, as she does not have a house in her name, nor work.

They did grant her a tourist visa, but she had to go back first with my passport, and the consular certificate of birth abroad. She had coppies, but they wanted to see the originals.

This is for Vietnam, but imagine the same in Thailand. Show them all the proof you can, and you should be okay. No such thing as too much.

Good Luck
