Koh Yao Yai - Where To Stay

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Will be taking a trip to Koh Yao Yai for some real paradise. I want to stay somewehre mid priced, about 2-3k a night. All I saw were 500-900 baht bungalows and 7k-11k 4 star bungalows

I would like to be close to the beach if not on it and I would like to know about the Reef protection program there.Any suggestions are welcome. Will be merely a weekend getaway.

Thanks!

That's about all you will get on Yao Yai MisterMan. I suggest you take the air con house at Tiewson Bungalows on the upper north east part of the island - number 13 here

The beach is lovely there and it's easy to travel around. There is nothing 'middle range' that I know of. Yao Yai has only about 6 bungalow groups. Say Hi to the owner at Tiewson from me - tell him Sona :o

I heard that LomLae is very nice, and is in your price range. But it is on Koh Yao Noi, the more northerly island..?

Hi I just sent LomLae an email and does look very nice. We want location more then AC. Senoi, didnt you used to live on K.Yao Yai? I remember one of the TV ladies lived there and ran a resport......

Any more feedback on LomLae?

Lom Lae is in your price range and lovely MM. At this time of the year the road to Lom Lae is dry so you'll be okay. Don't forget to go to my bar!!! Hey and seriously MM I would not suggest Yao Yai, Yao Noi is much better. Jade and Radt at Lom Lae have a brilliant beach and you can go out with Radt to dive etc. PM me if you want more specific contact details/pick up at the pier/bookings/whatever...

i used to work for Lom'Lae. it IS a beautiful spot. rooms are rustic but have character. food is also pretty good here.

the beach is lovely when the tide is in. when it goes out, it goes out for quite a way and its rocks and coral. radt and the boys do some great day trips and diving. well worth it in my opinion. (room #9 - the middle one on the beachfront is the best in my opinion).
