Please Help With Visa Question! :)

Featured Replies

I have been in thailand for 6 months. For the first three months I used the basic runs for a stamp to Ranong. Then for the next 3 months I went to singapore and got a 3 month tourist visa. My situation now is this. I want to stay in thailand for only 3 weeks more before returning home for a while in Australia. I need to know if I can now do a visa run for a 30 day stamp given that I have not had one for 90 days and have been here on a tourist visa or do I need to go to Penang, Singapore, KL etc. to get another 2 month tourist visa. Please help as I need to make up my plans by tomorrow.

You have to get another tourist visa.

You are allowed to stay a maximum of 90 days on visa-exempt entries within six months. From what you wrote you have already used up these 90 days visa-exempt stay but the six months from the date of your first visa-exempt entry have not yet elapsed.

Thanks for the quick reply Maestro. This is where it gets tricky. My first arrival date was the 17 August 2007. This was on the visa exempt stamp. My current 3 month visa expires on the 18th of Feb. So it would have been six months since I got my first 30 visa-exempt. Would they give me another 30 day stamp if I did a visa run on the 18 of feb?

Yes, on 18 February you should agian be again entitled to a new visa-exempt entry, if the immigration officer at the border handles it correctly.

Thankyou. And yes I am a little concerned about the way they may handle it. as the stamps etc. are all over the place. What do you think my chances are? If they go back and look at the first stamp it should be pretty clear I would think.

Yes, it should be quite clear.
