Thinkpad X300

Very interesting sneak peek at the brand new Lenovo Thinkpad X300:

And leaked specs - note the CPU is actually 1.2GHz ULV, not 2GHz like the leaked specs claim:

I thought this one very interesting because of the way the form factor matches the MacBook Air - it's really a direct competitor. It has the same size screen, and a full size keyboard, and a similar form factor. It's $2500 - 2800, 1.2GHz ULV CPU, 1440x900, DVD burner, a bunch of ports and... it's thicker than the MBA and only comes with SSD which probably accounts for a good chunk of the price. Mossy also says most configurations are heavier than the MBA but only by a tiny bit (3.12 lb vs 3).

Good: Screen resolution - would love to see that on the MBA but it's not even an option :o

Bad: 3 cell battery standard. Horrible, however, one will probably be able to replace the DVD drive with a drive bay battery to get a more MacBook-Air-like experience.

Ugly: 1.2GHz ULV processor is dog slow, I shudder to think what it would do with Vista.

Somebody on the nb51 forum made this beautiful comparison:

The MBA is of course probably the most beautiful laptop ever, but I dig the Thinkpad Deathstar-looks as well.
