Network Printer To Wireless Router

Featured Replies

Hi Guys n Gals

I have a D Link wireless router (connected to my DSL Modem via Ethernet cable)

Question: If I buy a network printer/scanner and plug this into the router

will I be able to access it wirelessly from my laptop?

Thanks

David

Yes, should be not any problem

But you need to use fixed IP's within your Network.f you use Auto IP you'll face problems. Just assign for each of your Computer an different IP and even one for the Printer after you connect them.

Cheers.

Thanks. . . . that sounds complicated . . is it?

Do I need some network software? I'm looking at network magic that seems to offer what I want, but do i need it?

David

Hi David,

it's a D link DIR 300

which unhelpfully doesn't show up on their web site!!!!

Thanks very for the offer . . .

I'll have a go myself first (the best learning curve!)

If I get no joy I'd be grateful for some expert input!

Do you go to the Tuskers Computer Club?

I found it on the Australian D-Link site, not all products are released in all countries... D-Link DIR-300

But I got the info I needed to be able to say, "excellent choice, this unit will allow you to do what you want"

Next problem... network printers are traditionally much more expensive than similar machines, just want you to be aware of that.

I've heard of Tuskers bar... Computer Club?

Cheers :o

Yes, they meet on Tuesdays at 1pm!

Installation complete . . . probably the easiest installation I've done.

Plugged the printer/scanner into the Hub

Put the disk in the laptop and Hey Presto . . . it works!

Thanks for your input
