How To Cofigure Windows To Use Grave Accent As Langauge Toggle?

It seems that most Thai installations of WinXP use the grave accent ( ` ) to toggle the input language & keyboard layout from engish/thai. If I add Thai to an english installation however, my only options seem to be CTRL-Shift or Left ALT-Shift, etc.

Is there a way to use grave accent?

You can setup the key to use to swithc between different languages. Also when using US international you can use the ' by simpley typing it and then type the letter where the accent needs to be like é.

How? Like I said, the only options it's giving me are CTRL-Shift and Alt-Shift.

go to the lower settings and you can select the individual langugaes and you can set the last key any numeric value.

What is the 'lower settings'? Do you mean the options below switch between input languages? I'm not trying to assign a numeric value to each language (which would still require CTRL-ALT / CTRL-Shift) nor do I want to. I want to simply use the ` key as the language toggle.

Here's the procedure

Control Panel->Regional & Language Options->Advanced

Set "Language for non-unicode programs" to Thai.

Reboot.

The grave accent will now be an option under Text Services->Key Settings.

Exactly what I wanted Simmo, thanks for that. I don't understand Microsoft's logic behind this at all though, what's the connection between default non-unicode fonts and a language toggle key?

I've been messing with the registry to try to set the togglekey without changing the non-unicode language but not luck so far.

It's related to this reg key:

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2709399633-792552601-2982033094-1003\Keyboard Layout\Toggle]

"Hotkey"="4"

"Language Hotkey"="4"

4 seems to be used for the grave accent, but it is ignored if the non-unicode font is english. The settings indicate that grave accent is the toggle key but it doesn't work.
