Staying In Thailand More Than 30 Days

Featured Replies

I have just booked my out going and return flights to Thailand from the UK. I miss calculated the number of days actually in Thailand and my return flight is 1 o’clock

In the morning of the 31st day. If I pass through immigration say 2 hours before on the 30th day will I be OK.

I arrive the 2nd May and fly out the 1st June.

Regards

Gibbo

You might get refused on the UK airport for not possessing a valid visa ..... For Thailand, you shouldn't worry ..... I believe they look at the date of your departure not at the time you pass passport control. You might have one day overstay ... no big deal ...

Gibbo, I suggest you get a single-entry tourist visa from a Thai consulate. You can apply for it by mail, except in London, I believe.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

At the airport Immigration control has a one day grace period where you pay no overstay fine. After the first 24 hours you pay for two days. So if you get to the airport you are fine; but if you get stopped by the police they can arrest you for overstay and then you are in a world of hurt. I have never been asked by police for my passport even though I drive a moto all over Bangkok and have been stopped by police several times for being in wrong lane, etc. I just pay the small "fine" and go on my way. You should have no trouble so have fun in LOS. But as one poster has mentioned the airline in the UK might deny you boarding so it is best for you to go to your local embassy or consulate and get a tourist visa (easy to get and not that expensive).

1 day overstay is free and you wont have an overstay stamp in your passport ,at least i didnt

Gibbo.

To avoid the risk of not being allowed on the flight get a Visa . Easy to do. Cost 28 pounds. Can do by post. Look at the website.

His flight leaves at 1am. Unless he is caught by the police during that one hour he would not be arrested. And I expect during that one hour, he will probably be at the airport, maybe even past immigration.
