Without to know where you are its difficult to say but you can rent in many Hospitals and even I've seen them by Lotus in Bangkok.

There is a retailer on Thong Lor (soi 2 or 3) from what I remember. I bought crutches there when i sprained my ankle. They had all sorts of wheelchairs there.

Can't help the OP, but I must say that Bangkok must be the least wheelchair friendly city I've ever visited...

Just in case someone else needs this info:

Opposite Rajchavitee Hospital at Victory Monument there are 3 or 4 retailers selling wheelchairs from 2500 -15000 baht.

In Pattaya upstairs at the chemist at Carrefour (7-8k) and in Tesco (5-6k) on the Pattaya Nua (North) Road.
