Directions Or Instructions Phrases Needed

Hey guys, I was hoping some of you may be able to help me out with some phrases relating to the directions and instructions in children's workbooks. I'm having difficulty finding clear translations for these phrases and I was thinking a nice compilation would be useful to beginning readers.

**It's important for me to have the Thai script in any responses.

Phrases that would be useful:

1. Match the following
   
2. Circle the correct answer
   
3. Put a T for true or F for False (They use X's and O's, right?)
   
4. Complete the sentence

Khun LookSaMoon: I'm just curious if กรอก could be used there instead of เติม - as in:

กรอกรายการให้ครบ ?

Or, what's the difference between the two terms in that regard?

I hope that you don't mind me commenting. I haven't read all the books in the World but the ones I have all use เติม I think that is because it is to make up for a difficiency เพิ่มสิ่งที่ยังบกพร่องอยู่ I suspect it is common useage you could choose เต็ม and if you were circulated widely enough it would be accepted I expect. They usually follow up with what is missing คำนาม ตัวสกด and where to put it ในข่องว่าง and in what manner it is incomplete ให้เมอาะสม ได้ใจความ obviously if not already mentioned, so maybe safer to stick to the form. While I was looking up กรอก it said เทลง tay long, so in this context it will have changed meaning quite a lot I think.

กรอก is a commonly used term for "to fill in/to complete" an official form, e.g. an immigration document, etc. That's why I ask.

Absolutely, I wondered why you asked, but you can see that there is nothing incomplete about a government form noone knows the answers but you, in the case of fill in the blanks it is incomplete and there are answers which have to be found. It's only an attempt to explain it.

Um, I'll have to say that actually I do agree with khun mangkorn that your post was not very understandable.

Anyway may I also add, with all due respect, that I find many of your other posts to be written in a way that is very hard to comprehend. Maybe it is one of the reasons for the lack of response to your posts that you sometimes complain about.

i think in this case tgeezer's point is that filling in a form and filling in 'the blanks' are qualitatively different. in the former case, space is left to add the appropriate information about yourself. in the latter, there is a particular correct and expected response.

the implication of his comment, from my reading, is that it shouldn't surprise us if there are two different verbs for these two different situations.

Guesswork, theories and assorted ruminations may have their place, somewhere; but I still wonder if anyone may answer the original question? In terms of common Thai usage, are there clear distinctons between the verbs เติม and กรอก ? Thanks.

เติม as in เติมคำ - to fill in a word or adding a word for making a complete sentence or content.

กรอก as in กรอกข้อความ - to fill in the contents.

I am a native English speaker albeit from England and with an education which is over fifty years old, You are merely getting a glimpse of how addled a brain can become when attempts are made to explain the unexplainable. We don't even know why a riduculaous word like 'fill' is used in English when the word wanted is 'write'. I shall try to avoid similar mistakes in future.

Here's my attempt, though it's been a longgggggg time since I've had any exposure to children's workbooks.

1. Cross out the incorrect piece : (จง)ขีดฆ่า ___ ที่ไม่ถูกต้อง
   
2. Which one does not belong : ข้อใดไม่เข้าพวก
   
3. Color in the ____ : (จง)ระบายสีใน ____
   
4. Write your own response : (จง)เขียนคำตอบ, (จง)เติมคำตอบ
