Bangkok ranked world’s 4th best tourist destination

BANGKOK: -- The American Travel & Leisure Magazine has ranked Bangkok as the best tourist destination in Asia and the fourth in the world.

The new Bangkok Governor, Apirak Kosayothin, received the World’s Best Awards 2004 from the magazine on Friday.

Bangkok was ranked fourth in the world after Sydney, Rome and Florence.

Several Bangkok hotels were also awarded best hotels in Asia.

The magazine made the rankings after conducting a poll amongst foreign tourists.

Speaking after receiving the award, Mr. Apirak said that the people of Bangkok should be proud of the award.

It is the second year that Bangkok had been voted Asia’s best tourism destination.

Thaland’s rich culture and smiles have impressed foreign tourists, he said.

Mr. Apirak said he placed great importance on making Bangkok a regional tourist hub.

He said he hoped to receive the cooperation of the private sector and government agencies, especially hotel and spa businesses, to help maintain Bangkok and Thailand’s international reputation.

On the forthcoming 'Loy Krathong', or 'full-moon' Festival, Mr. Apirak said the municipal policy was that floats used during the celebrations should be made from natural materials and environmentally friendly.

and they ask tourists who are only here a few days and spend the time being whisked from place to place by the tour and are just overwhelmed by everything and all the people wai-ing at them every two minutes or thinking that the 'friendly' people who come up to them every two minutes are friendly and not trying to scam them.

Bangkok it's good place for tourists..I'm concerned about Apiraks "tourist hub"..

Does Toxin virus transfered from humans to democrats? I hope not.
