Us Dollars In Bkk

Featured Replies

Hi,

Am moving to Vietnam at the end of month and would like to take some US Dollars with me, does anyone know of any banks in the Silom/sukhumvit area that actually keep any?

Tried before in the major banks of Sukhumvit and it's always 'come back later, no have' or 'airport'.

I dont want 1000's just perhaps $800 at a time, can anyone save my feet and tell me where they have a semi respectable stock of $ for exchange?

cheers

Try a full-service currency exchange (a place that both buys and sells currencies for the countries that you are interested in). There are dozens throughout Bangkok. Take a walk. It will do you good, and you'll find what you need.

I use the one located near the corner of Narithiwas and Suriwong.

Cheers, where exactly are Narithiwas and Suriwong? nearest BTS? Cheers

You might want to go to Vasu on the corner of sukhumvit soi 7/1 ,

you will get a better going rate than normal banks and the bills are new from HSBC banks ( current year etc. ) , so no worry of counterfeits being sold to you.

I once was giving 2 counterfeit 100.00 bills from Western union in Bkk, was a fine mess trying to sort that out.

Cheers.

go to any Chinatown travel agency, they will give you the best rates

Timmy's opposite the Indra Regent if it's still there.
