My son has a british passport and I understand he needs a Thai passport. What my question is,can I just buy us both a ticket and go,or would I have to get written permision from the mother,or would she have to come to the airport to give verbal permission ?.Has anyone on here done this?

I have a 6 yr old daughter, who's mother is Thai, my daughter has both Brit and Thai passports--last year I wanted to take her to visit Uk, family, etc..and was also concerned about the same issue--I am seperated from the mother but I take care of my daughter--I got the mother to go to the local Ampur Office and she mage a declaration, signed and authenticated by Ampur staff--we then went to Suvannarbhumi Airport, me carrying every bit of paperwork that I'd ever been issued, more or less, since she was born--belt and braces--I was also somewhat worried about being quizzed by some over zealous Immigration, or whatever, person as I had been told that Thais are pro-Thai mother in cases like this--absolutely zero--no one wanted to see any of the stacks of official stuff I had with me--just handed over our tickets and, in my daughter's case BOTH passports--she exited Thailand on her Thai passport and entered UK with her Brit--at both ends they were given both books--maybe this is why--I would definitely recommend your son get a Thai book--otherwise, where's his visa, in his brit book, to be here? If, on the other hand, he's 100% Brit with same visa and so on as yourself--then I guess you don't need the sweat of getting him a Thai book--only my opinion--Brit Embassy BKK were pretty helpful.
