Featured Replies

Hello all

My wife has recently moved back to Thailand with our children and I want them to continue learning English.

Until I get over to Thailand myself I want my son to watch English childrens channels and was wondering if it is possible to get cbeebies or similar in Thailand via free to air in the same was as my wife can watch Thai tv in England.

If it is possible anyone know approx how much it would cost to purchase equipment and to set up/install.

Many thanks

Hello Slippery...

I have been trying to do the same myself and have been unble to find a way to do it via the internet. Something to do with licencing :o

Broadband speeds to international servers from Thailand are pretty slow most of the time so would probably make it unwatchable in anycase.

I am not sure about any satellite TV services that can provide UK television. The only thing I can suggest is that if you have a DVD recorder make some Discs of your Childrens favourites and send them by post. Not ideal I know.

All the best :D

Slingbox

Nothing like the BEEB, but Australia Network http://australianetwork.com/ have some daily children's programmes that are free to air in English, and on the same satellite, there's Knowledge Channel http://www.knowledgechannel.org/kch/index.asp which is educational, largely English, and also free to air. The only possible difficulty is that you need a C-band dish pointing at a pretty low angle so it has to be insalled in a location with no obstructions where there's a clear view down to your eastern horizon.

I brought all the DVDs on Amazon and also have my dad record a few dvds of the tv for me every couple of months. My son must have over 24hrs of cbeebies but all he wants to watch is the same one episode of big cook, little cook over and over lol

Slingbox as mention above is another option that I read about in another post that could work, google it and see what you think.

Our children jumped from the lovely cbeebies, with Balamory, tikabilla and other great programmes, to the abomination that is Cartoon Network!!!!

What we ended up doing is getting multichoice installed. They broadcast BBC Prime which shows Cbeebies. The only problem is that it is transmitted at 5.30am local time, so it is 11.30am in Bangers. We end up recording this for them to watch the following morning.

Top tip, forget Astro and BBC Entertainment, they don't show cbeebies at all. A good alternative though is playhouse disney.

All I need now is a place to get CBBC as they are growing up fast!!

You could try www.uknova.com or www.thebox.bz torrent sites.

They often have Tikkabilla, Balamory, Mr.Men, Fimbles and Cbeebies packs.

They have a good search engine. You need to register to download.
