I read in a small article in a UK paper that the founder of the weather channel in the US is considering suing Al Gore and the people selling carbon credits for fraud. John Coleman says it is the only way all the evidence about climate change can be properly challenged. He insists that the whole thing is a scam and that he has the evidence to prove it. Coleman doesn't deny that weather cycles change or that CO2 levels are at the highest for 300 years. But he says CO2 amounts for just 38 particles in 100,000 and far from global warming the earth is going through a cooling period. He feels that if all the evidence for and against global warming caused by CO2 was put before a court in a rational, sober and honest way he would win. He insists that in a couple of years we will wake up to the fact we have been conned.

Now you would think that something as important as that would have gotten lots of media coverage but non of the major networks has touched it. Its not as if the guy is an out and out loony tune either. As a meteorologist all his life you would expect him to know a little about the weather and the planet.I personally feel its all just a way of taxing us till we squeak and all in the name of saving the planet. I would love to see it happen as it has taken on a quasi religious feel and anybody disagreeing is simply called a heretic and shouted down.

A father has already taken the UK Government to court to stop them showing the film " An inconvenient truth " to school children as fact. The judge on the case saying the film had several scientific inaccuracies and had to be shown only as a particular point of view.

There are now threads here on TV about buying land near the sea here in Thailand ( That should keep the "whats this got to do with Thailand "saddo's happy ) and loosing it due to global rise in sea levels.

To the people who believe it nothing people tell them will change their minds but if it was shown in court to be a scam then that would be different. It would certainly show the " Green politicians " up for what they really are and should make it cheaper to travel.

Flame away!!!!!! :o

I for one am fed up with the global warming cause being stated as fact.

Surely you can't deny that the actions of humans over the last few centuries has been increasingly damaging to the environment (logging, chemicals, etc). Even if it is this big con job you speak of, the world needs to drastically change the way we go about doing things so we don't live in a junk yard, breathe poisonous air or cause the extinction of various species. Even if the Inconvenient Truth is not 100%, it has made people more aware of their effect on their surroundings which is undeniably a good thing. There will always be people out to take advantage and make a buck (look at post-tsunami 'charities') but much good does come from being better educated about the environment.
