Better Than Ketchup!

Featured Replies

I HATE ketchup because it tastes like vinegar and SMELLS like vinegar. So I would tolerate the less-vinegary brands.

But now I found a solution.

Available at Paragon now is this pasta sauce called Mutti (brand) Passata di Pomodoro... only 75 baht for 720ml. In the ingredients, it says it's pure tomato and salt, nothing more (no disgusting VINEGAR and sugar), yet it's thick enough to be like ketchup. I can't use USA spaghetti sauces like Prego because they're too sweet and full of herbs (which are great for pasta but not for sandwiches and hotdogs).

Moreover, I'm a low-carb dude so I like it because it's only 4.6 grams of carb per 100g.

:o

<deleted>...a recommendation to use tomato sauce as a tomato condiment? To each his own :o

Yeah, but it's not ketchup! :o

I use Mutti for spaghetti sauce. They have tomatos in a can that are terrific.

Italian tomatos picked ripe and canned. Very good. Way better that the 'fresh' tomatos in the produce section.

I made my own the other day, there must have been a glut at the village market and my Mrs brought home about three kilo, all of them at the "just perfectly ripe" stage...

I couldn't be bothered messing around making bulk sauce so I just peeled them and froze half a dozen at a time. Should be ok for cooking when thawed out.
