Have you noticed when you walk into restaurant or bar you mostly get jumped on instantly and your order taken in seconds however, from there on it can be a struggle to get anyone's attention? In a large bar in BKK you can have 20 staff always looking the other way even on a quite night

Yesterday I went into a bar early evening and was immediately seated and my order for a beer taken. There were 6 staff at the bar and around 3 customers. It took nearly ten minutes for them to pour one Heineken and deliver it!!! Why??? :o

Simple, all service staff attend special training seminars where they learn to look everywhere in the premises except at the person who's desperately trying to attract their attention. This training must be organised on an international basis because the staff in any bar/restaurant anywhere in the world exhibit the same quality. That's why such people are never reliable witnesses to any incident the one exception being the person trying to sneak out without paying.

its down to thinking and organisation skill that they havent got!

if we as falangs served thai people on a regular basis and realised they need somthing 60% of the time we would take it everytime to save going back and making another journey and also to make sure they were happy, it does happen here sometimes, but rare, even in the best of hotels!

i think the thai word is lerm! it means forgot, or couldnt give a dam!

but at least they not all like it!
