Best Cheapest Place In Thailand?

Featured Replies

Can anybody suggest what your opinion or fact is on What is The Best Place In Thailand to Stay for the Cheapest Amount of Living Expenses. I was considering staying in Kanchanaburi for as long as I can but can anybody suggest other places that are probably cheaper?

Define "Best Place"? I already live in the best place in Thailand yet other farangs living here go crazy with boredom after a month and have to dissappear to Bangkok or elsewhere to get their sanity in order. As for the cheapest, go for the place with the fewest farangs. I have been to Kanchanaburi a few times and there are far too many farangs there for my liking, (although most are tourists), and that puts the prices up.

Nidge.

Their was a thread just recently titled "I want to live in the forest" ....go to it.

Check out Chiangmai - as far as "proper" cities go, it's easily the cheapest - a small 2 bedroom house in a moo-ban 10K's from the city center can be rented for as little as 4000 Baht/Month, getting around in Songteow's is cheap and plentiful, food is way cheaper than other tourist places. All the major retailers are there, there's plenty of farang oriented food and entertainment available.

You will have to deal with (IMHO) pretty bad air quality though.
