There are a number of places but one I know directions to is in the CRC tower on Wireless Rd. The cigar shop is on the bottom level near one of the hotel entrances I believe. Prices may shock you.

The Dusit Thani has a nice selection of Cubans. Expect to pay top dollar though. The Cohibas were looking good, but not that good.

for packet cigars 24 hr foodland sukumvit 5, or pharmacy next to bully's. for humidors, marriot has a large selection on soi 2, central world has cigars 1/2nd floor in the sukhumvit wing.

When I think of packaged cigars, I think of Swisher Sweets :o

Pacific liquor...just up the road from the Emporium.

If you exit the Emporium at the Sukhumvit exit, walk up past Benjasiri park, and it's on your left.

+1. About the best around (I haven't been to the Dusit shop). They have a larger variety of non-Cuban than other shops, too, but that's not saying much. A bit less expensive than other shops, but not always and not by much. Nice lady proprietor.

My complaint is how ridiculously expensive cigars are in Thailand (you thought wine is extortionate?) and the lack of variety. You can save a lot by switching to a pipe, but then the variety of pipe tobacco is extremely limited too: evidently Thais, as one might expect, will only smoke mild, sweet (vile) drugstore aromatics. As far as I know, Mac Baren's Mixture and Original are the best to be had here but a little difficult to find.

Will have to talk to Dave about this..............you guys stink the place out and he is losing a lot of customers.

'cause of you guys I am hoping the BIB will enforce the non-smoking law (and he will abide by the law if it is a real law and not some arbitrary early closing law set down by the BIB) and this is coming from a hard core cigarette smoker.

:o Off Topic

Excuse me, I think this is a bit of an over emphasis, as there is only one cigar smoker in that group so don't generalise.

Personally, I don't care either way about the law, but this is not a thread to get into that debate, or about if Dave is actually losing a lot of customers. It's certainly been busy enough on the nights that I have been in there over the last couple of months, and I'm normally there at least two times a week.

I wont debate it anymore as it is a pointless arguement, with no relevance to the OP's request about purchasing Cigars.

Cohibas are over-rated. The Dusit Shop has some reasonable prices on Uppmann, Romeo Julieta, Hoyo Monterey and Bolivar, which are fine with me. They are generally in good shape, too.

Classic Cigar on the first floor of CentralWorld, near sculpture of yellow fibreglass head, is another favorite. Decent prices, knowledgeable, friendly staff.

The Erawan had a cigar bar; not sure if it is still there since smoking is now illegal. Their stock tended to be too moist, and sometimes moldy.

Good to know about Pacific - walked past there not long ago and noticed the sign saying they sold cigars, but didn't wander in. Will do so next time I'm past.

Bit off topic, but I wonder if there are any lounges or clubs where cigar smoking is allowed - a place to chill out with some drinks or coffee, listen to jazz or watch TV. I inquired at the Dusit, but the counter girl couldn't elaborate on the "clubs" that have formed since the public health ministry's crackdown.

Over-rated for you. If you have any, I'll gladly take them off your hands. :o

i think most of the cigar shops in bkk have been mentioned here. just make sure when you buy, the shop keeps the cigars properly humidified (about 70%) and when you take them home, keep them in an airtight container- ziploc bags or tupperware until you give them away. your air-con will dry them out and kill them overnight.

but a better deal is if you are flying in or out of the country you can get some good, properly humidified cigars at the airport at a better price than the retail shops in bkk which tend to be quite high.

esp. if you are in the KL airport there are 2 shops, one being much better with a walk in humidor. they stock good stuff too.

recommends are the Bolivar Belicoso Fino, Montecristo #2, and most of the Padron series 1926 or 1964, though they are bit stronger and maybe not for the novice. Partagas serie D4 have been decent as well.

cohibas can be overrated but they can be very good as well. the hype in the states is due to they are the most known of the forbidden cubans. but i just went through half a dozen cohiba siglo IV and they were great...

Oriental Hotel also has a cigar shop. exorbitant prices though

if you live in Bangkok try to make some contact with one of the embassies of "exotic" or poor countries. that's the source for my cubans.

Hardly...I can think of a couple more without even thinking too much...like the Pacific Cigar shop in Gaysorn, the cigar shop at the JW Marriott, and the Davidoff shop in Peninsula Plaza.

Have to agree about KUL airport duty free however. That is a really good airport to buy your cigars in if one is passing through. Penang airport also has a pretty good cigar and wine shop...duty free side too. Have never found much in the way of cigars at either Singapore or Bangkok airports.
