I'm just trying to make sure everything goes smoothly for my first visa application.

I've used up my 90 days of non-visa stay.

I'm in Kunming and heading to the consulate to apply for 60 day visa.

I'm Canadian.

What do i need to do to prepare for this?

Do i need to show them that i have a certain amount of money or a bank statement? (or simply a receipt from the atm?) I currently have about $20 000 baht but I have a business and will be getting more money.

I have a paid round trip ticket but the date says December since i changed the flight to open-ended. Will it be ok to show them this ticket?

What else should i expect from their "interrogations"

Thanks alot.

Probably will need a copy of your ticket, a couple of passport photos, application, copy of application, a couple of copies of your passport.

Not sure what they will say about the ticket not leaving until December. My wife (Chinese) got a visa a few weeks back from Guangzhou and one of the things that they required was the return ticket. Maybe if you are not Chinese they will let you off.

thanks alot for your help.

it was a ticket for this past December that i got extended to "open ended" but i don't have any documentation of that. only the original ticket.

I'm assuming i get the application at the consulate?? why do i need to copy the application?? is this important??

What type of questions will they ask me verbally? I've never applied for a 60 day visa before for anywhere.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I'll check this one last time in the am before i head to the consulate here in Kunming.

Thanks!

They probably wont ask you any questions. A tourist visa is pretty standard, not like trying to get a Non-O visa or something.

As for the ticket, seems like you should have something that says you changed it. Did you get an email confirmation or anything like that that you can take?

I think they just want the copy of the application form for whatever reason people want two copies of the document. Maybe they keep one and send the other to Thailand, who knows.

Don't think you have dealt with a Thai consulate in China. Hope the OP post how it went. My experience with the Guangzhou Consulate is the Chinese behind the counter are some of the rudest people in the world (farily typical of locals working in a consulate), but if you can get one of the Thais from the back to come out, everything works out fine.

I had sent an e-mail, which was replied to, if I had not had a copy with me, I would have never gotten past the Chinese lady. :o

Was in the Thai consulate in Guangzhou two weeks ago getting a visa for my wife. Pretty easy, they just wanted a copy of the ticket, 2 copies of my passport, a copy of the completed form. Gave it to them, they looked at it, said it looked good. You then have to wait a little while longer until they announce your number at another window to pay the fee. Come back next day 4:40-5:00 to pick it up.

I agree that the Chinese are some of the rudest people I have ever met, but I did not experience that at the Guangzhou consulate.
