Hi All, fantastic forums, sorry my first post is a visa question, hope to contribute in future :o

At the moment I'm thailand, arrived 1 March 2008 in bkk on a 30 day enty visa..although coming to the end of that....just arrived in Lipe (not as good as tnp in kpn by the way :D )

I want to stay in thailand another two weeks.....but am coming across problems..because i want leave after that and then come back twice more in the near future for sure 17 may to 7 june AND 23 june to 22 July. I would very very much appreciate any thoughts on my situation.

So - the issue is this ---> I would like to stay in thailand for another 2 weeks on this current visit and also come back again twice later:

1) how can I extend my current visa locally, or perhaps get a new on in penang?..or maybe i can get 2 weeks extension in samui?

2) THE BIG ONE! - how will these options affect my 2 later visits to thailand - bearing in mind the 3 visit in 6 month rule Im hearing about?

in that think perhaps a good option is to try to get a 60 day multiple visa in penang but if i get that and use it to come back immediately back to thailand and for the may/june visit...will that make 3 trips in total and mess up the june/july visit?

Many many thanks in advance :D

A. You haven`t got a Visa. It is a 30 day entry stamp.

B. The rule is 90 Days in a 6 month period. As many entries as you want.

C. Even Samui will not give you a 2 week extension.

What you are planing to do would mean a total of around 96 days or more so on one of your entries you would need a Tourist Visa from somewhere. Penang is not recomended at the moment unless you have a return air ticket home. Try Vientianne.

To sum up. Between now and June you will need a Tourist Visa.

You can only extend your current stay with a maximum of 7 days at 1900 baht, so to "extend" your permission to stay, you need to cross the nearest border and receive a new 30 days visa exempt stamp (as above no visa).

And as above, at some point in time you are going to need a tourist visa, as you will be above the 90 days on visa exempt stamps in 6 months. So for your second entry you could obtain a toursit visa, time spend on these don't count into the 90 days limit, then your last stay could be covered by another 30 days exempt stamp.

It is not 3 visits in 6 months. it is 90 days in 6 months using visa exempt stamps. You can make as many entries as you want, but the total number of days cannot be more than 90.

You will only be able to get a 7 day extension at immigration in Thailand.

You will need to get a visa from somewhere. If you go to Penang, you will need to have a ticket leaving Thailand to get the visa.
