Doctor's Certificate Needed For Retirement Extension?

Featured Replies

Asking this for a friend:

A friend of mine is doing his 3rd yearly retirement extension at Korat Immigration shortly.

Will they require a Doc certificate this time?

No. Not needed. It stopped a few years ago.

While we're on the topic;

is a doctor's certificate needed for

* your first extension of a Non O visa?

* applying for an O-A visa in a consulate outside of Thailand?

Thanks

*No

*Yes

*Thanks!

The correct answer is it depends on what office you go to for the Retirement Extension. Just go to or call the Korat Office and ask if the Doctor's Cert is required.

I have completed two "retirement" extensions at the Korat immigration and no Doctor's certificate was ever required. :o

The correct answer is .... NO.

Naka.

It does depend on what office you go to. I just got my retirement extension on the 27th at Mae Sai and they required a doctors note which I got 200mts. down the street at a private hospital for 50 baht.

You are wrong, Sirracha office also requires a Doctor's Certificate.

The correct answer is whether or not the immigration office you use wants it. I use the Chiang Khan office and have needed the certificate PLUS a copy the past three years. I didn't have the copy the last time and he sent me out to get a copy made. My wife says he gives me a hard time because I NEVER take him any gifts.

The correct answer is NO.

But if local offices want to totaly make up there own rules there is not a lot you can do.

Nope, don't think so haven't ask me for one the past three years. :o

With the new rules that took effect on 1 October 2006 the medical certificate is no longer required but possibly some immigration officers do not yet know this fact. Even the official website of the Immigration Bureau has not yet been updated.
