Hi there,

My wife is Thai and ill be needing a visa soon as my current one hasn't got long left to run. I anticipated having to go back to the UK to get a non O MULTIPLE entry on the basis of my marriage to a Thai national, but ive seen a thread posted on here today from someone who said he got a non O multiple entry in KL and didnt have to produce funds in the bank. Can anyone shed any light on this or has anyone had any experience going there? Ive tried sending him a private message but he looks to be offline now. Basically I want a non O multiple entry but I dont have the required funds to show in the bank which is what I though most Thai embassies in Asia would require. Anyone?

Many thanks for any advice on this.

Hi Steve,

It was very simple and here is what you need: Original and copy of marriage license, original and copy of house reg., wifes id and copy, your passport and copy, 1 picture. They don't require proof of funds-which surprised me, and I had that as well. No letter from wife as previous poster mentioned. This was from KL every single consulate is different and I was over supplied with paper work. As I said in my previous post...I had gone for the O based on retirement...but that you cannot do from KL anymore. Marriage is very very easy....almost too easy...I triple checked my visa and still can't believe how easy it was. You will only be able to get a multi entry visa as well..MR 550. Enjoy KL, transport via train/subway is very easy, cheap and fast.

Hi Steve,

Ive just privated you. Ignore that. No sooner had I clicked send had I noticed you had now replied to my request on the main board, many thanks.

Thats great news for me because I dont have to fly back to the UK....haha. I mean the flight prices dont compare either. Much cheaper to fly to KL. I've never been there though. Any recommendation s on accomadation near lively center and not too far from THAI EMBASSY/CONSULATE where I will be going? What is the turnover from application point at the office mate? Also, when you say house reg document. I rent a house outside Bkk, I assume you mean my wifes tabien baaaan as they say fom where she lived and was brought up. Correct?

Be aware that not everyone has had such a positive experience in KL; you could still end up with a single entry. Hope for the best but be prepared as both good and bad experiences have been reported over the last year. As this is the newest report can hope that it signals a return to the old easily obtained visas of several years ago but only time will tell. Please come back to advise your experience.

The house registration will be your wife's. Where she is listed.

Your welcome Steve. I almost had a heart attack when the girl told me I had to apply in USA....but it all worked out. As far as a place to stay....I am not much help. We stayed at the Bintang Warisan in the Bintang Bukit area aka The Golden Triangle. Lots of shopping spots, restaurants food stalls. Fairly central...about 10 min cab ride to consulate-make sure they use the meter! The Warisan is ok, nothing special for MR170....if I had the time I usually book online for cheap deals but put it off too long this trip.

The consulate opens at 9:30 got there early and already a line-moves quickly though....turn in paper work(they give you visa app. don't bother doing one from internet as they want their version) and return next day for 11:30 another line and get your visa....or not. One guy there was trying for a tourist visa and got rejected as he had too many tourist visas already...poor bastard.

Anyways enjoy the experience....and as stated in my previous thread, there are two terminals at KL and they are 20 minutes apart. We took the express train and it was great, no stops, brilliant, fast very new.....only it stops at the one terminal, not the budget terminal...as we found out...wheeeeee found the cabbie on yabba that rocketed us to the other terminal in a hel_l raising ride but we made it....
