Jabari Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I filed an I-130 petition 16 months ago. We got word in November of last year that our visa paperwork had reached the US embassy in Bangkok but have heard nothing since that time. Our 18 month old son has his US and Thai passports already. When oh when can I expect to see them in the US as it seems that the remaining steps are quite simple. Does anyone know of any reasons for the hold up ? Is it worth calling the US embassy in Thailand. I have an American lawyer who practices in Thailand (excellent guy, top firm) handling this but the wait is really becoming onerous. I have was living in Thailand up until 5 months and have made one short trip back to see them in between. It just seems as if nothing is happening.
jstumbo Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 (edited) It should have been finished by now. Contact your senator or congressman. Talk to BCIS and find out what the status is. Just curious, but did you file it in Thailand? Since you were living here, if you were on a non-imm visa, you could have filed it in Thailand and it would have been quicker. I had not lived in Thailand long enough to file it from Thailand, but you are correct if we could have done this the line would have been way shorter. Oh, what is BCIS? James
