My TV expires on 7th April, which I've just learnt to be a public holiday, when Immigration, banks, schools etc are shut. Does this effect someone doing a border crossing on that date or is it business as usual on border checkpoints?

Cheers.

I ballsed up my 30 day requirement ie didn't realise two days count as one, meaning it's actually 29 days - my flight out of the country is 30 days after 7th Apr, not 29 as it should be - is this extra day likely to be a problem? I'm not bothered about overstaying through BKK, but will Mai Sai border bother that I'll overstay for a day?

Why would they even know? Or are you planning on making your border run late and your plane on-time? Trips to border can be checked and if by regular police you could be pulled into jail. Chance is low but you could avoid any problem with a 7 day extension of stay (or have you used your limit of 90 days visa exempt entry?).

If you have time I would do border run without overstay and plan on getting a 7 day extension until flight.

What is boils down to is this: do border people *generally* ask to see evidence of outward travel within 30 days or not? If they do *generally* ask to see a plane ticket, I can provide one for my next destination. However, I miscounted the days when I booked my flight and will overstay by one day ie won't leave Thailand until 30 days after the border run on 7th April, not 29 days. Will Mai Sai border people care that I'll leave Thailand a day after my 30 (29) days are up?
