Low Kilo Price

Featured Replies

Dear forum friends,

For the moment I am living in Holland with my (Thai ) wife and daugther. My father in law is running our Brahman beeffarm just outside Phichit for a period of time with some family of my wife.

We just started our beeffarm with 4 groups of Bramans cows from 1 year old. (about 250 kg).

After a period of fattening them up ( irrigated fresh gras every day + mixfood) we want to sell them to the local abattoir.

Today my father in law told us that the abbattoir want to collect our cows (when they are about 400 kg ) and pay 45 bth.

per kilo.

Considering the raised prices for the daily food ( maize, cassave, fishmeal, etc ) the last month's i can not understand this low price ????

Please let me know if this is only a region abattoir price?

The local market beef price ( Phichit/Sai Ngam ) was today 120 bth a kilo.

Is there such a big different with beef prices in each region in Thailand?

I am very greatfull if you can inform/ advice me ?

Ruud

I think your B45 per kilo is live hoof price market price is dressed price.

That seems a little on the low side to me. A friend of ours here on the border between Kanchanaburi and Supanburi gets at least 50 Bht a kilo 'on the hoof' I am sure, sometimes more.

Goodmorning Bob,

Yes i know, but 45 bth is in my opinion (considering the costs of food ) still to low.

All the general prices are increasing a lot the last couple of months.

Is there such a different with abattoir prices in the country?

regards,

Ruud :o
