Quitting Smoking Aids

Featured Replies

Tonight at work, a dear friend admitted, sadly, that he had been unable to quit smoking despite doctor's orders (he lasted about three days).

I told him to use the patch, worked brilliantly for me, or nicotine gum. He said he had looked in several Bangkok pharmacies, but none carried anything that would help stop smoking.

Anyone know of any stop-smoking products available in Thailand?

I have the full package of nicotine patches. This includes the 21,14 and 7mg patches. This is a one week supply of each dosage. Start with the 21mg for one week and then go to the 14mg for another and then to the 7mg for the last week and then you should be able to quit. If you're interested in buying them, pm me with contact info.

Hi Kringle,

Sent you a PM last night. If you didn't get it let me know.

I highly recommend "allen carrs easyway" - http://www.allencarrseasyway.com/.

i read the book and it was amazing, helped me stop no problem

forget the substitutes or willpower, it never lasts.

i dont know if the book is in thailand, but get some to order it off amazon and send it to you.

I tried patches here. I brought them from uk with me, But its so hot here that they dont stay on. The sweat gets under them and they come off. Any other suggestions?

After smoking for over 20 years I gave up 3 months ago. I've tried everything before with no success.

The nicorette inhalator thing works for me. It gives you a little 'hit' of nicotine in the back of the throat and something long and cylindrical to put between your lips * ahem*

It has got me through the really testing moments like when I drink wine or whatever.

Now I rarely actually pull on it but still use it for the 'habit'. Getting less and less need for it though.

Boots in England sell them. Perhaps the Boots in Bangkok does?

Good luck.

I have tried several times, succeeded for three months but then started again... However, when my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer after smoking one pipe per day for 35 years, that was the wake up-call I needed.

I used Nicotab in the beginning (they give you a hit that it is more similar to cigarettes than gum I found, but the thought that my father was going to die soon and that I am carrying his genetic makeup, was the thing that really did the trick...

When you get it close up (in your face) like that, there is no way you can keep smoking and pretend like nothing happened anymore.

My motivation too.

My Mothers death from Lung Cancer was terrible to see. She'd never managed to kick the habit in spite of many attempts.

Even so it's taken me 3 years of trying. The turning point for me came when I started saying ' I don't smoke' rather than ' I've given up'
