Hey guys,

I am planning a 6 month trip around South East Asia that will start and end in Thailand. I already went through all the info I could find online, and this is what I came up with:

- Ticket London-Bangkok-London - overland to Cambodia/Laos/Malaysia

- Tourist visa, multiple entries - 60 days (issued from the embassy in London) + 30 days extension in Thailand

As I understand it, I am only allowed to stay in Thailand for a maximum of 90 days in 6 months, no matter what kind of visa (tourist/on arrival), so I would have to spend 3 months in the rest of South East Asia. However, I am still not completely sure about some things...

- Could there be a problem with immigration because of my ticket? I would only have a visa for 60 days, but my return flight would be 6 months after my first arrival.

- If there isn't a problem, would it be better for me to just get a visa on arrival each time I visit Thailand during the trip? Or could I just combine a tourist visa + extension with an on arrival visa (border run) and stay longer than 90 days?

In short, I am just looking for the best and most flexible way to spend as much time as possible during the trip in Thailand. I would have to plan the rest of the trip around that.

Thanks for your help!

There is no limit on the amount of time you can stay in Thailand if you have a Visa.

No problem with Airline or Immigration if you have a Visa.

The hassel free way would be a Multi Entry Non O Visa obtained from Hull. Reason to visit friends. Cost 100 pounds. Enables you to come and go as much as you want for over a year.

Or a 3 or 2 entry tourist Visa , 60 days each stay. Each stay can be extended for a further 30 days at Immigration in Thailand.

It really depends on what you intend doing.

Whatever, you must have a proper Visa.

Have a look at the Hull web site.

Hi,

these are great news, many Thanks!

This might actually alter my whole travel plans, as I could just get a one way ticket + "O" visa and stay for up to one year with unlimited re-entries... That's perfect! Why bother with a tourist visa then?

I just hope they don't actually check if you really have any friends/family in Thailand. Maybe it's a better idea to just go with the "extended stay" option, unless there are some conditions that aren't mentioned...

Again, many Thanks!

You should not have any problems with the Hull Consulate.

"I just hope they don't actually check if you really have any friends/family in Thailand"

I think sightseeing is ok,

"as I could just get a one way ticket + "O" visa and stay for up to one year with unlimited re-entries"

you be best book a return with maybe option so as you can chage flight dates at no cost, some people on here have had problems with NO return ticket!

"stay for up to one year with unlimited re-entries"

i think max stay is 90 days, then you would have to go to a border, but that would tie in with your idea of visting more of asia!

Yes . Each stay would be 90 Days Max. But can leave and come straight back again if you wish.
