Within a week of Sept 11th 2001, I saw T-shirts depicting the burning twin towers and Bin Laden, being worn in BKK. You say crude but never the less humor, you're fuc$ing sick man. The difference being one is harmlessly mocking herself, the other is being disrespectful to thousands who painfully died and showing support for a terrorist group. The 12 or 13 year old daughter had a bright yellow tee shirt with the following caption painted in large, bright red, "CAUTION - SEX MACHINE". My guess is they had no idea what it said, they just liked the design. She was dressed in track suit pants and a T-shirt. The kids were pretty shabbily dressed as well. Her T-shirt said "I <deleted> for free".. I am serious..I wanted to hang around to see who was picking her up at the airport (nosy bugger that I am) but I didnt see her after that so I supposed she was delayed. I nearly agree with you, but remember back to how quickly the jokes appear across (UK) phone networks whenever a tragedy/crime occurs(its called British humour) ALL these t-shirts are in a foreign (Fashionable??) language and/or relate to matters OUTSIDE of the country where they are worn. They never take the piss out of Thailand &/or Buddha because the TOURISTS (& Ex-pats) would not find it funny. I was in a friends bar last night, and the usual dress/ tee shirt seller came around. 2 of the girls bought the same tee shirt bearing Thai script front and back (which I cannot read). When the missus arrived I asked for a translation and she told me it says "pissed, every day". I have always said this country is like travelling back in time 50 years - what were the girls in the West doing 50 years ago? Shock value I believe it's called. As for the girl with f... you, you f...ing f.., whilst I did spill my tea over the keyboard laughing when I saw the pic, this is one universal word that all Thais understand - shock value again. Sweetchariot, you probably need to adjust your timeline from 50 years to 40 years. In 1958 in the West, you would never find a woman wearing a t-shirt like that. Im English and like i said people can wear what they like no matter how offensive, but they have to expect someone who is offended by a blatantly offensive tshirt to use their "freedom of expression" to verbally challenge them. If someone were to wear a tshirt glorifying the murder of millions of jews is that ok, or how about one supporting pedophilia, is it just a case that its their "freedom of expression" and people shouldnt take offence. If i were to wear a certain well known sex pistols tshirt that could be redesigned to mock a member of another countries royal family is that something that is just "freedom of expression" or is it offensive. Wear and do what you desire but if it mocks or glorifies people being murdered or abused then the person wearing it is obviously a fool. Between the lines I can read that these people should get good bashing or killed HTC? Something what would be less likely to happen with a simple fuc3 off w/finger shirt I believe. Tshirts are no big deal, but I'd take the time / take along a native speaker before I got a (e.g.) tattoo done in a foreign language.
