This will be my third 60 day w/ 30 day extension Tourist Visa (the last 2 issued in Vientianne). Planning a trip to Layang Layang to do some diving and have the option to fly through KL or Penang on my way back to BKK. This trip will coincide with my need to renew my TV and was wondering which place is easier to accomplish this ??? Also are the requirements the same as Vientianne ?

* USA citizen with no stamps of any kind from KL or Penang in my passport.

You are not likely to obtain more than a single entry in either location. I believe Penang has stopped the requirement to produce an air ticket out but you could be met by that requirement if not.

Wow. Received double entry from Vientianne both times with no problem. Might have to rethink my travel plans.

I have posted a thread on Penang as is at present (according to the Japanese press in bangkok) but interestingly, noone really seems interested - which is GREAT coz that is where I'll go next as they have completely loosened up with regard to requirements for onward tickets/hotel reservations. Had to happen really - Penang relies more on tourists from Thailand than Europeans staying at Ferrighi beach 5 star hotels, or expats from Thailand renewing other visas. Not only my opinion -check the aforementioned Japanese press!!
