5tash
i'm sure some of you are familiar with the thai reggae-style band job2do. there's a song on their 'no war' album titled 'ลายเคง'. i've tried looking it up in my dictionaries but to no avail. anyone have any ideas?job's from trang province, so it might possibly be southern slang. BambinA
From google, ลายเคง is southern thai meaning - to piss off someone/ grate on someone's nerves/ to destroy/ to annoy someone
5tash
just been speaking with some southern thai friends and they comfirm bambinA's suggestion. ลายเดง is southern thai for the central thai เกเร, quarrelsome, mischievous, roguish, naughty, to destroy. and in the context of job's song it means for someone to join a group of friends, and say something that destroys the conversation. ลาย ลาย ลาย ล้าย ลายเคง
