Other than the obvious places of Power Buy at Central, and the Sony Store in Tesco, I can't think of anywhere else. Surely there's better selection out there. Thanks. I was in the HT install trade and all of the products I would recommend (except one) would not be easily obtainable locally. Consider facing the import duties perhaps if quality is the goal. Look at the electrostatic line from final of Holland, incredible sound for money spent but need to consider bass response of the room and subwooofer interaction with electrostats. If you want Thai there is an interesting company that is mail order based and produces distinctive high end speakers here in Thailand, Norh based in BKK have a global mail order line of products that are very good value right through thier range.. I am currently using 5 of the marble 9's in a 5.1 config here in phuket. They used to have aPhuket distributor / dealer but contact them, thier published prices are based on global shipping these items (my marbles weight about 80 lb per speaker) so domestic shipping saves them and you money. Looks like I might go for an Onkyo package at Power Buy. Went to Court's today and was unimpressed with their selection. I also checked out AVC Phuket, located in Bangtao. They have a few pieces of high end audio (Denon, Paradigm, JBL) and they are able to order in pretty much anything you want. Definitely out of my price range though. LivinLOS Posted October 5, 2004 Share Posted October 5, 2004 Yeah that does make the import a problem, there are some good in box packages so dont settle to easily, for midfi stuff I think sony produces nice stuff but even then I have not followed the pricing locally so dont know what can be found. The norh stuff is great value for audiophile equip but that market rapidly gets expensive.. the marble 9's I have are MSRP 3000 USD per pair !!! I had a look inside once - impressive stuff and some are reasonably priced. Not sure the exact road, but I think it's Luang Por road or something like that. It's a few junctions north of Robinsons, past the circle (Metropole hotel), thru the street with gold shop and pearl bowl, either 1st or 2nd traffic light junction, turn right, on the right side (about 30m from the traffic lights). If its the same place they even are B&W dealers and had a set of B&W 802's in there (10 - 12k USD per pair) which are some of my all time favourite audiogasm speakers hooked up to some nice amplification... When my ship comes in (or the lotto ticket) they are on the shopping list.. They were really nice and for audio very smart, then (a couple of years back) they had very little projection knowledge... I done know if you know anything about Maggies (Magnapan, planar / electrostic style speakers) but I know thier large models are out of this world quality...
