Hi all, I have a few questions concerning getting a tax ID card.

1.What is the process, documents that are required to be shown.

2.How much does it cost, usually, and how long does it last, and how long to obtain..

I previously worked for a University in Chonburi that apparently never paid tax for me, as when asked for the Tax ID number, where a bit miffed to say the least.

Any quality assistance would be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

I just went to the tax office with my passport and asked.

Within half an hour I had the card.

They may think you crazy for volunteering to pay tax!!

Visa Currently expired, will be doing a border run ASAP.

Do they need to see a current Visa in the passport, or is a valid entry stamp enough?

also how much did it cost, and how long is it valid?

As far as I remember the card is free, in anticipation of the tax you will pay.

It has an issue date, but no expiry.

Not sure on the visa side, sorry.

The card is free and does not expire.

Only PP photo page is required (visa is not checked).

In the past a WP was required but I think this is no longer the case.

Once you have the card you have to file the 90/91 form every year by March 31!!!

If you change address make sure to get a new card because this form will be mailed to the address stated on the card.

Thanx to all for replies, did not wish to sound like a fresh muppet, as have been here for over 5 years, now in the process of being 100% "legit" as we all know the tide is turning.

Thanks again.

Unless you are working here, or have come to the attention of the Tax man for some reason, it is not really necessary.

I file a return each year, with a letter and UK tax statement showing all my income has already been taxed in the UK. This year they wanted to give is back to me, as they had no idea where to file it.

Probably went in the cylindrical filing cabinet on the floor.

Are there any benefits, like smoother visa extension, easier visa application... ?? :o

In my current and past jobs with government schools nobody ever bothered to hand me a card or even talk about it. (But yes, correct taxes were deducted from my salary.) :D

A copy of your latest form 90/91 incl. receipt is required for visa and WP extensions. For a first year application of extension this may may not be available, depending of the time of year you apply, but is required for subsequent renewals of the SAME visa and WP.

Have you ever been asked to sign a form 91 (usually in Jan.-Mar.)? If not there is a high chance your employer deducted the tax from your salary but did not forward/register it with the revenue department (MoF).

Hi again, I am / have been working here for several years, but always for other people, but after being ripped off too many times by both Thai and farang (50-50) I have begun going it alone so to speak, that way if I screw up : my problem.

part of my reason for enquiring about the Tax ID card, was that on too many occaisions, i was told that "no problem we pay all Tax for you" only to find out later was a crock of......! even by "leading Educational Institutions" TIT.

Thanks again guys ('n' gals)

Doing a 'run' tomorrow to Aran, pay the overstay (serious pain in the ass and wallet) (Som nam na) then will get with it again.

Cheers.

Your tax payment record is essential if you ever plan to apply for a Residence Permit.

Also a good idea if you are working :o

Hi again guys, well, did my visa run yesterday at Aranyapratet.was Interesting.

1.Went with a visa tour company that picks up at Asoke, BKK>

2.Price used to be 2200 baht-Include aal fees etc.Now is only 2000 baht but when leaving casino after lunch etc. you now have to show your face at the cambodian visa section prior to departure back to Thai side.

3.Usually you dont need to do this, but have to line up and get stamped back into Thailand. Not this time.

4. basically walked straight past all immigration without waiting , showing money or even holding the passport.Went directly to the bus did not pass GO (or collect $200)

5.The customers of the significant other bus company WERE required to wait for Thai immigration to stamp all passports!!!

I guess someone has taken care of the 'sweetener' already.

Apart from the wait at the Cambodian Immigration was a smooth ride, for all concerned.

Not advertising for anybody by the way,but the Visa tour company issues you an Orange pin on badge.

P.S. did u know that the Immigration officers now get 60% of any overstay fee.my Thai is not brilliant but they were basically having an argument over who was getting what while I waited to be processed! TIT fun all the way in LOS.

Cheers guys
