Purchase Of Art

If I buy some contemporary Thai artwork (not antique, not national treasure, etc), do I need any form of proof of ownership to sell it or take it abroad? Am I likely to encounter any hassle at customs checks about the status of the artwork if it is clearly contemporary? Just want to know what red tape I might be getting into if I want to bring some Thai artwork home.

I have taken a number of oils back to the UK, of thai scenes, beach scenes etc, bought them in Pattaya, I just took them off the framework and rolled them up in Tubes, no problem with thai officials, only problem you may have is when coming into your country, if customs stop you, they can not confiscate, only if they are copies, monalisa ? etc, I do not think Uk customs know there art that well, also one time i brought back a framed oil of A thai lady with a baby on her back, one of the hilltribe ladies, that was about 4 foot x 2 foot, it was packed well and i got it back no problem.
