April 14, 200818 yr My wife and I are heading back to the UK for our summer holidays and have decided to have a stopover in Dubai. Can anyone recommend a good hotel at a reasonable rate close to the main shopping areas. Nothing too up market. Thanks.
April 14, 200818 yr If on a stopover, I've always stayed at the Millenium Airport hotel (Emirates Wing). I've always booked this at the Emirates office in BKK - if you try to book this hotel on any of the usual websites i.e. Asiarooms, it's much more expensive as you'll be booking the main hotel. Also note that in my experience, the hotels and prices on the Emirates website are different to what they offer you at the BKK office. It's a couple of years since I did an actual DXB stopover, so things could have changed.
April 15, 200818 yr I am in Dubai right now on business and am very impressed with Four Points by Sheraton Downtown. It's only been open five months, the rooms are huge, modern and spacious and the rates are pretty reasonable (shop around and you can get around AED 800 per night). It's a short taxi ride from the city centre and staff will get taxis if you let them know. The only negative is location. There's not much around outside but everything is still close by and easy to get to.
April 16, 200818 yr Author By coincidence I was looking at the Sheraton web site yesterday. They appear to have some nice looking and reasonable priced places. I'm just waiting for a reply to an email I sent to the Meridien Fairway.
