Spreading love

Providing a family for those without

For Family Day, Outlook presents stories from adopted or foster children and parents. After all, being a family is not just about bloodline; it's about a caring and nuturing environment where love rules!

KRITTIYA WONGTAVAVIMARN

Quote :-

Foster mother Euangporn Sukaew, and New, who has been in her care for two years.

Euangporn Sukaew did not want to let go of the little boy's tiny hand. But when his new "parents" lifted up the two-year-old boy and began to walk away from her door, she could no longer hold back her tears.

The 45-year-old began sobbing, her body shaking. "It was a heartbreaking moment," she recalled, "when I realised that I would never again be able hold his hand and console him when he cried. My time as his 'mother' was over."

Seven years ago, Euangporn opened her home to a complete stranger. With assistance from the Holt Sahathai Foundation, she became a foster mother to a one-month-old boy who, two years later, was adopted by a Finnish couple. For the past five years, Euangporn has also taken care of three other foster children. The latest is seven-year-old "New", who has been in her care for two years.

While altruism tops the list of reasons for providing a child a foster home, Euangporn, who had worked as a babysitter for decades, said there are tremendous things that she, as a foster mother, has gained from the experience.

Unquote.

Well worth a read and perhaps providing some of the children with a New Year to remember, along with those who generously decide to become adopted parents.
