Change Of Address - Tm 28

Featured Replies

I am due to move into a new house from 11 May. My extension (retirement) expires on 26 May. Having just printed off TM 28 (Alien to notify change of address form) from the Thai immigration website I am pondering on the way ahead here.

Do I post the TM 28 off to Suan Plu, if so which office?, or a visit in person to immigration office with the form, I notice there is a tear off strip (receipt of notification) similar to 90 day form.

I plan to visit Suan Plu on 14 May with my application for extension and re-entry permit form too.

Another slight worry is my next 90 day report is due by 14 May too, I think I will do that by post (my usual method) and just put the new address down on TM47.

I suppose I could do everything all at once!, but that might mean a very long day at Immigration.

Finally on TM 28, it says to inform local police within 24 hours of change of address. I know most of the local cops here in this small town and they all aware of where I am going to live as I required their assistance after some toe-rags stole my water pump from my new place!!.

Case investigated very quickly and advice-'buy a dog' - no sign of pump so far!

When I did the tm 28 in Samui, they did not know what it was and threw it in the bin.

When I just recently reported the move I made from Chonburi to Rayong,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the home owner pre-signed a TM-30 "Notification For the House Master" and I took it to the Immigration officer at Mabtaput.

I filled in all the details as needed. The form is actually 2 pages,,,,,,,,,page one is the housemaster info and page 2 is your info. My wife did it all in Thai as the homeowner is Thai.

The officer looked it over and checked my passport and that was it.

My 90 day address report was due in about 2 weeks so I then went to the 90 day window and gave the lady my 90 day address report with my new address on it and she did the usual thing looked over my passport , took out the old 90 day receipt and stapled in the new one,,,,,,,,,,,,,done for another 90 days.

So my experience was no need to file a TM 28,,,,,,,,,,"WE" filed the house master report for the absent housemaster and that was all that was needed

And I did my 90 address report over 2 weeks early

Thanks for that Lite beer and Longball, I think I will just put my new address on TM 7 AND TM 47 when I go to Suan Plu. I always book myself and wife into a hotel around Silom area for two days and renew my BUPA cover + Bangkok Bank statement letter & immigration over that period. It always seems a hectic couple of days as we have to bus it into Mo Chit from up country and then make our way to that area.

The TM 28 just seemed to raise an alarm as I did read some time ago on TV about someone being fined 800 baht for not informing immigration.
