Featured Replies

Anyone done this trip that can give me some recommendations as to which way round to go and the cheapest or best way to do it, airlines etc.

Can it be done round trip or will it have to be return the same route?

Thinking of early July.

Whilst I was searching for flights from HKG to BKK, I looked at the fares with various mainland Chinese airlines; they were quite expensive. Try searching on their websites:

I've been searching a few airlines websites and via HK seems to be out of the equation cost wise so I'm looking at straight BKK-Shanghai options.

Thai Air is best direct at Baht 56k

Cheapest is Air Asia and China Southern with an (unwanted) overnight stopover at Baht 32k

Mid price is Air Asia via KL which could also be an interesting stopover for a few days instead of HK at 41k

I'm still searching other alternatives but was hoping maybe someone has done the trip already and could give some recommendations???

try Malaysian Airlines. or consider some mix and match using dragonair/cathay to Hong Kong. Due to alliances you can book a ticket using something like emirates to HKG. True you wanted direct, but with a layover of 1 1/2 hrs in Hong Kong you can reduce the cost to about 28,000 baht. (I just checked)
