Is Non-o An Option For A Work Permit (married To Thai)?

Featured Replies

Couple of questions. Is it possible to get a non-O visa due to marriage and use this to extend a work permit (I already have a WP, but for various reasons am exploring the non-O option rather than non-B ). However, it seems to be that it's not possible to get a non-O without 400,000 baht in the bank. Is this right or are there any other options? I don't have 400,000 in any bank, although I do own a car, bought in my name. Some sites say a non-O is fine without the money in the bank; others say it's necessary; others say it's 800,000 (although I believe that's for retirement). What's the actual truth, and is there an easy answer? A couple of sites I went to said "proof of income" is all that's needed, which I have in the form of salary slips for a number of years. All answers/help gratefully received.

1. There is no longer an option of 400K for extending a Non Imm O,

unless you are already in the system on that option.

2. 800K is only for retirement.

3. The requirement is 40K per month of family income, yours or hers or both.

Yes, salary slips are required.

Thanks for that. Is that also true of changing a non-B to non-O? I know it seems like an odd request, but there are reasons. I have held a non-B for some years now, so it would be changing -- if that's possible -- or applying anew.

There is no change except the extension of stay reason. If using 40k family income it will become a family extension of stay rather than employment; and wife will become the key factor rather than company.

Again, thanks. So it's as simple as taking my existing valid non-B visa to Suan Phlu along with a year's salary slips (plus marriage certificate and any other documentation) and it's done and dusted -- extended as a non-O visa, for family reasons, and can be used to extend and run alongside my existing work permit? Sounds surprisingly easy considering that this is, of course, Thailand, and this is, of course, visa issues.

You forgot the wife - don't leave home without her. Also believe they will want to see tax payment paperwork
