Highwayman
Recently there was a post about how do you know if what you pay for is what you get when purchasing computers at places like Panthip. In todays Bangkok Post DataBase section is a recommendation from Wanda Sloan for a program called Configinspector which can help answer this question. You can download the installer free version (125KB), copy it to a floppy and just insert it into any computer you wish to check. Instead of having to work your way around various settings on a strange computer this program provides an amazing amount of information at your fingertips. Key features of ConfigInspector * Displays list of working applications; * Displays list of working processes; * Monitors the memory status; * Monitors the CPU and network utilization;. * Displays the full list of CPU capabilities; * Displays important Windows OS parameters; * Displays Windows Network parameters;. * Displays HDD status and information;. * Displays videocard information; * Displayes soundcard information; It only works On Windows 2000 and above. Another small program that you could add to the floppy is CPU-Z which provides very detailed information on chipsets and memory specs. Need to run an installer for that one.
