Grey/silver/brown Hair

Featured Replies

I used to have lovely brown hair with shades of ginger, freckles and quite sallow skin. The brown has gone 50%+ grey and the remaining is mousey brown. Eyes - hazel brown, skin still sallow.

I used to look good in rich brown colours but now find they drain me of my complexion. I'm not quite ready for 'winter colours' - can anyone suggest which colours in clothes and make-up might help?

Thank you - I'm a bit stuck!

By sallow skin do you mean you have a yellow rather than blue undertone to your skin? You use a foundation that has no pink it it? You look better in peach than pink? Ecru rather than white? Dark Brown rather than black?

As you age your hair and even your skin "fades" in color. You need to soften up the colors you wear a bit. The dark brown may simply be too strong for you now. Try a golden brown or a russet. Try peach, lavender, yellow-green, or golden yellow. Look for the colors in your eyes, the color of your lips and what color you are when you blush. Try to find stuff those colors.

I agree with cathyy, lighten up on the colours - even try pastel shades. Dark colours on the 'older' lady can be a bit severe!

Good luck.

ps I take 'sallow' to mean lighter skin...

Gosh, I just wear colors I like!

Of course, the colors I prefer are the ones that look better on me, but where I live everybody just tends to wear whatever. Only time I wear nice clothes is to a wedding. :o

Thanks very much. I'm only 37 - not really an older lady!!

I think my skin has yellow undertones. I used to look better in peach than pink and dark brown rather than black. White is definitely better than ecru though.

I just always knew what suited me and now I'm completely thrown!! :o

Thanks for your advice :D

Sorry silapin, from your op I thought you were older - at 37 you're a spring chicken! :D Still, it's good that you're thinking about things like this.

Good luck.
