The Australian site is, understandably, geared towards Thais applying for a toursit visa so I am a bit confused. If, as a USA Citiizen, I want to apply for a tourist visa is there another procedure to follow and about how long does it take to get a visa issued??

Realize I can do an ETA but am more comfortable having a visa in the passport unless it is a royal pain to get that done here in Bangkok.

Advice and guidance greatly appreciated.

I suspect the biggest difference is the time and cost. ETA cost $20 online and instant just about versus (multiple) visits to the visa office and a 10 working day wait for non-thai passports .
