Hi Guys

Please excuse this question if it is obvious to all but me but am I right in thinking if I apply for a Multiple Entry NI Visa to the Thai embassy in the UK it gives me 90 days stay and I only need to do a border crossing to get another 90 days, not this new you must spend 60 days out of Thailand before you can come back in

Does this type of VISA last a year then I assume you would have to come back to the UK and apply for another one

Thanks in advance if anyone can take the time to clear this one up for me

Multi Entry Non O . Each stay is 90 days. Leave the country and come straight back again to get another 90 days.

Do your last border run just before it expires and you can stretch it out to 15 months.

At the moment it is possible to get another one in the local Asia area when it runs out. But it is getting more and more difficult.

A multi entry non immigrant O visa allows unlimited number of stays up to 90 days during its one year validity. You would have to obtain a new such visa after about 15 months (assuming you enter just before it expires).

There is no such rule "you must spend 60 days out of Thailand". There is a requirement for visa exempt entry that limits these to 90 days in a six month period. You can always obtain/use a visa for entry.

For marriage or child perhaps - but suspect not for scuba. ((he is talking Hull))

Thanks for the reply guys, being able to spend 15 months in that neck of the woods would be great, I fancy a break from the rat race for a while, I'll most likely base myself in Phuket as I have some expat freinds who live there, would anyone recommend the best place to do a border crossing from Phuket ? Can you get an international flight anywhere from Phuket airport just to do a quick border hop ?

Look for the cheap budget carriers like Air Asia, Tiger Airways etc. I'm not sure who flies from Phuket.

As for land crossings, then that is not my neck of the woods but any border would do.

Now that both the Thai Embassy Singapore and the Chicago Consulate are saying central directive stating no multiple entry non-imm O could it be all consulates and embassies around the world have this directive including Hull - news would be nice

I know a few guy's I will be drinking with tonight will be up the creek without a paddle if the multiple entry non-imm O route is cut off from them!

Yes and Yes (more or less).

Once you hook up with your ex-pat friends, I'm sure they will all have details on the various border run options (or should have unless they are all on retirement visas). If Phuket is anything like Pattaya (in that regards), there will be a plethora of "Visa Run" companies that will take care of almost everything except having to actually walk across the border and back (pay them enough and they'll probably arrange to have you carried each way, and wipe your bum as well) !

Some options will no doubt include a bus trip to a nearby border crossing (in either a mini-van or larger bus). Other options could have you fly from Phuket to Malaysia (or other destinations). Again, a reputable company will take care of pretty much all the details, for a price. It will be "up to you" as to which option will best suit you (based on cost, time lost to travel, convenience, etc).

I used to use a visa run company here to take me to the Cambo border. After a few trips and sussing out how things worked, I started doing it alone (well, I had my landlady's niece drive me there and back, mainly because I didn't want to spend all day trying to get there and back on my little 200cc Phantom motorbike). Paperwork and procedures were a breeze and I could get everything accomplished and be ready to go home in about 15 minutes after arriving at the border.

I live in Phuket, and you can do a 3 day visa run to Panang, although this is getting more difficult. Most people i know fly to Singapore for a few days or KL.
