New Visa Situation... Wanna Stay 6 Months

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm a bit confused about the new visa situation. Can anyone advise please?

I have a 2 month tourist visa that I got in Sydney. When that finishes I will do a day trip to Burma and get another month.

After that, (this is where I get confused) how many more visa runs to the border can I do?

Or, will I then have to do a trip to a consulate to get another 2 month visa???

I'm not sure what the new rules mean when they say you can only do '90 days back to back in 6 months'... :o cause doesn't that mean I've done 90 days already!!! Umm... confused!!!

First - you can extend your current 60 day stay to 90 days with a visit to an Immigration office and 1,900 baht/photo. If you obtain a two entry tourist visa prior to travel that will cover almost six months.

You can do 3 trips out/in for visa exempt 30 days entry (the rule is not more than 90 days in a six month period using visa exempt entry). But once you do that you have no emergency reserve so I would just visit a Consulate and obtain a new tourist visa after using your first one (if you can not get a two entry at home).

The thing to remember is that a two entry would likely be issued with a 3 month validity from date of issue. Be sure second entry is day before expiration date or earlier.
